If your child received a letter, this page is for you.
The Steve Carter Tutoring Program, part of the Louisiana Tutoring Initiative, provides a $1,500 voucher per school year to families of eligible K-12 public school students. Schools identify students who scored below proficiency on the state assessment and notify parents directly.
Not sure if your child qualifies?
Eligibility is determined by the Louisiana Department of Education based on state assessment scores. Your child’s school is required to notify you if they qualify.
If you have not received a notification but believe your child should be eligible, contact your school directly.

Four steps from registration to first session
How it works once you register here.
The state runs the eligibility and billing. We run the tutoring. Here is the sequence.

Register on this page
Complete the short form below. We log your child as an incoming TLC family and confirm receipt by email within one business day.
2.
Select TLC on the state portal
On louisianatutoringinitiative.com, choose TLC of America as your approved provider. We email you a one-page walkthrough.
3.
Brief screening & planning call
We arrange a short call and a screening session so the plan fits your child from the first lesson, not the fifth.
4.
Sessions begin
After-school tutoring starts at your studio or virtual time. The state is billed directly. You see progress updates throughout.
